After losing a violent match to Sugar Ray Robinson, Jake LaMotta retires in Florida and runs a nightclub while his wife seeks a divorce. His weight ballooned to virtually unrecognizable proportions, Bob physically presents himself as a broken man running a sleazy joint in a cheap suit. Soon after, LaMotta serves a jail sentence for introducing underage girls to men at the club and bemoans his (entirely self-imposed) misfortune.
